Biophilic Design For Healthier Living Spaces
We are delighted to introduce the Nonbiri Project that we completed in November 2024, a Japanese-inspired family house that combines minimalist design with a harmonious connection to nature. Thoughtfully crafted to offer a unique and refined living experience, this project goes beyond aesthetics by prioritizing the use of sustainable materials, maximizing small spaces, and ensuring a serene and comfortable atmosphere for its residents. With all the essential amenities for modern family living, Nonbiri is designed to be an ideal sanctuary where beauty, functionality, and tranquility come together.
Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Materials
The project features 90% wood sourced from Japan, meticulously selected and handcrafted at Sobokuya in Japan before being shipped to Vietnam. Among the key materials used is Hinoki wood, renowned for its ability to infuse the living space with warmth and comfort. With natural humidity-regulating properties, Hinoki creates a cozy ambiance in winter and a refreshing coolness in summer. In addition to its aesthetic and functional benefits, it is an environmentally conscious choice that contributes to energy efficiency.
A variety of plants, stones, pebbles, and sand are skillfully integrated into the Japanese garden design, featuring bonsai, Koi ponds, and traditional gates commonly found in Japanese architecture. The design focuses on balance and harmony, ensuring a continuous flow of positive energy, and fostering a peaceful, healthy living environment.
The home is beautifully covered with Tatami mats, free from dyes, offering a serene and soothing atmosphere. The gentle scent of the mats adds to the sense of comfort and relaxation. Tatami is not only a traditional element of Japanese interiors but also a symbol of elegance, humility, and purity in their way of life.
Capturing the homeowner’s true vision, Sobokuya designed and built a traditional Japanese wooden house that reflects the essence of Wabi Sabi—a unique Japanese aesthetic and philosophy that finds value and charm in imperfection. This style celebrates simplicity, rustic elegance, and a deep connection to nature, qualities that are becoming increasingly cherished. With its subtle color palette and soft, calming light, the home offers a serene retreat, inviting relaxation and peace in the purest Japanese tradition.
The Nonbiri project is more than just a house—it’s a masterpiece, where every detail is thoughtfully designed to create a perfect balance of harmony, comfort, and warmth. It’s an ideal retreat to embrace green living and savor the joys of a cozy family life.
